The Epidemiological Study for External Traumatic Patients by Accident

Abstract
During the past period from January 1970 to October, 1971,196 external accidented cases in all orthopedic patients of Woo Sok University Hospital had been observed with their epidemiological factors according to the classified accident.
The results are summarized as follows;
1. In the all external accidented patients male eases occupied the highest rate 75.6%.
2. Among the classified accidents traffic accident (63.4%) were highly rates to compare with industrial accident (20.9%) and home accident (10.7%).
3. As to mean age industrial accidented patients were eldest; the industrial accidented patients were 31.8 years old, home accidented patients were 28.8 years old and traffic accidented patients were 28.1 years old.
4. As to duration of accident 66.3% of all accidented patients were consulted less than 6 hours, but several patients of the traffic accidented and industrial accidented patients were retardated consultation to hospital beyond 1 month.
5. As to duration of admission traffic accidented patients were longest; administrated patients beyond 1 month were 53.0%, but familial accidented patients less than 2 weeks were 80.9%.
6. As to the accidented patients the freguency of accidented injuries revealed that in the traffic accidented patients lower limb fracture occupied 44.0% contusion of joint and extensor muscle, occupied 15.6% upper limbs fracture occupied 11.9% and defect of skin and paralysis of nerve occupied 10.4%, in the industrial accidented patients: upper limbs fracture occupied 26.8%, defect of skin and paralysis of nerve occupied 24.4%, lower limbs fracture occupied 19.5% and fracture of skull, spine and trunk occupied 14.6%, and in the familial accidented patients: lower limb fracture occupied 19.0% and defect of skin and parlysis of nerve occupied 14.3%.
7. As to result of treatment in the traffic accidented patients the ratio of completly recovered ones were higher than other accidented cases, but in the traffic and industrial accidented patients the ratio of impossible recovered patients were higher than familial accidented cases. The other hand in familial accidented patients the ratio of discharged from hospital during the treatment were highest than other accidented cases.
